  Microphlebectomy

Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows the removal of large, superficial varicose veins. Very small incisions, which may not even require any stitches are made. These incisions are generally 2-6 mm in length. Unlike traditional and more invasive surgeries, this can be held in our office.

What Are The Benefits Of Microphlebectomy?

• The less invasive of the surgery, the smaller the risk of infection, blood loss, or other significant problems.

• No IV, hospitalization or general anesthetic needed.

• The treatment requires less than one hour.

• You may go back to work and to your daily activities the next day.

• The procedure is done with local anesthesia, without using any oral sedation.

• It is not a treatment to be feared.

• Excellent clinical and cosmetic results.

What Is The Recovery Like After A Microphlebectomy?

Mild to moderate pain can be expected after this procedure as well as bruising. The pain varies depending on the amount of incisions made. A medicine against pain may be prescribed. For recovery, it is necessary to take the entire day off and you should keep your leg as much elevated as possible. Usually compression hoses are placed over the clothes and have to be worn continuously for the first 24 hours. Afterwards it is only necessary to wear them while standing or moving and for about two more weeks.

What Are The Risks Of This Procedure?

Other serious complications are rare with this procedure.
